Personal Profile
GET TO KNOW ME
Hello! My name is Aly Herzog. I am originally from Florida. I fell in love with Sign Language while in the eighth grade, there were two deaf girls in my class. I wanted to learn more about how the interpreter would sign for them. Sadly, after the eighth grade there were no classes available for ASL, so I wasn't able to further my education in that area. However, in 2012, my interest was sparked again and after completing a service mission, I decided to come to Utah and learn more about ASL and the Deaf Community. Over the course of my education, I have been able to learn more about this beautiful language and the good people, both deaf and hearing, involved in it. I hope to continue learning and improving my skills as I gain experience out in the field.

I’ve mostly acquired skills through my educational experience. I’m definitely proud of the skills I’ve gained across the years, and lucky to have had the support to become a professional in my field. But what I’m most proud of is my perseverance through it all.

Professional Goal
While I have achieved many goals in my life as far as education, I would like to continue my education and gain a certification so that I am able to work with pre-school age children at a school for the Deaf. I plan on attending Utah State University beginning in the Fall 2018 and beginning my journey towards that goal.
Educational Experience
Being a lifelong learner is a trait that is really important to me, and I know that a good education is not just for the schoolyard. Some lessons were learned in the traditional way, while others I have received from professional mentors, industry professionals and in some cases, friends and family.
